I thought this was an interesting write up on www.PetaPixel.com. One of Jeff Wall's photographs just sold at auction for 3.6 million. I have one of his books and was able to get a much closer look at this photograph. It really is amazing and apparently shot in studio. Not sure how you make that happen but I would have liked to been there.

RIP MCA
The Beastie Boys were a huge part of my teenage years and have maintained a spot in my iPod ever since. Adam Yauch, a.k.a. MCA, passed away this Friday afternoon after battling cancer for the last few years. His as well as all of the Beastie's creativity is a breath of fresh air every time I hear it. He will be missed.
Here are some of the great Beastie Boys video's.

My Birthday - Instagram
A couple of weeks ago I celebrated my 32nd birthday with a weekend trip to Ventura, CA. My wife and I had a blast, no kids, thank you Grammy...it was amazing. Here are a few photos from my Instagram stream.
Sunset on the drive to Ventura and beautiful bride.
View from our hotel room looking back at the hills...behind us was the ocean.
Rainy drive leaving Ventura and headed for Santa Maria.
Wait this wasn't from the trip, but it is a beautiful breakfast! Look at all that bacon.
The trip is over, on the drive home.

Nirvana - Nevermind Cover Shoot
I was a huge Nirvana fan growing up so when I stumbled across this article I was pretty excited.
Kurt asleep on the side of the pool early in the morning of the shoot:
http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2011/09/exclusive_interview_with_nirva.php
The article talks about the photographer, Kirk Weddle, capturing the cover image for the Nevermind album. I consider it to be one of the greatest album covers ever made. You can actually pick up a limited edition print of the original image for $600 on www.rockpaperphoto.com.
Here's the cover:
Here's the baby on the cover all grown up:
Its got to feel good to capture an image that has that much of an impact. Maybe someday I'll know. BTW that album changed rock and roll forever.

Farmer's Market - Stockton, CA
Sometimes sitting around the house on a Saturday is awesome and sometimes you just want to get out. Stockton has several farmer's market, so it was kinda like take your pick. I picked the closest one to the house!
It was pretty hot out and I think Scout's face tells that story.
I saw the vegetable prices.
I saw the vegetables.
After a few frames the lady who owned all the vegetables saw me and looked at me like she wanted to kill me. Frankly I didn't want to die over vegetables...so I left. Awkward!
A huge bin of organic strawberries for $10. I was psyched on that.
This would be the reason the kids love the market. It only cost a dollar to go in both of them.
Lincoln was a little slow to go in.
But really quick to come out.
He hated it.
Scout loved it.
I love jalapeno cheese bread. So I bought a giant pan of it and it was incredible.
The kids were melting down quickly so mommy was happy to leave just as quick as we came.
Screaming kids and all, it was better than sitting at home on a Saturday morning.

Vintage Me, Vintage You - Reunion
Sowers Reunion - Deer Park, TX
A couple of years ago the Sowers family got together for a mini reunion. Being in California now, I've really learned to appreciate, and cherish, these photos and all of the photos of my family that I've made.
The men.
Papa and Uncle Bobby.
All the great grand kids (at that time).
Laughing it up and just missing teeth.
Learning to slide.
Acting like we're 5 again. Some of the best times in my life were spent with Ryan and Amy.
The women.
Peek-a-boo!
Kyle.
Uncle Bobby.
Amy.
Papa.
Aunt Edie.
Juli.
Michelle.
Night night dolls.
My best friend in the entire world.
This is classic. We still cut each others hair when we get together. That's my dad on the right, cutting his dads hair.
